Introducing The Podcast Academy’s Community Engagement Coordinator

Author: JoAnna Laskas, TPA Account Manager

The Podcast Academy is excited to announce a much-anticipated addition to our team —Nancy Sanchez has joined us in the role of Community Engagement Coordinator.  You may have seen her introduction in Slack this week … but if you missed it, check her out here.  We’ll be talking more about Nancy and her background in next month’s enews, but for now I wanted to take a moment and explain a bit about why this role is important to the future of The Podcast Academy.

TPA established this position to elevate our member programs, foster stronger relationships with partner organizations, drive membership growth, and support TPA in our efforts to establish Spanish-language programs. As we look to grow and evolve our organization to meet the needs of members current and future, this role will be pivotal in enhancing our members’ experience and expanding our reach.

Mentorship. One of our cornerstone initiatives is our mentorship program, designed to connect more experienced members with those seeking guidance and professional growth. The Community Engagement Coordinator will work with program alumni to develop and implement strategies to enhance this program, ensuring that every season of this program builds on the successes and learnings from the past.

Education Events. Our educational events are essential for professional development and networking. The Community Engagement Coordinator will take charge of planning and executing these events, with a focus on reaching current members and engaging prospective members. The Coordinator will work closely with our members to identify relevant topics, secure expert speakers, and ensure that each event provides valuable insights and learning opportunities.

Collaboration. By ensuring TPA members fully understand the access available through their membership The Community Engagement Coordinator will not only work to strengthen our ties to existing partners  like AIR,  BIPOC Podcast Creators, Podcast Movement, and Podcasting Seriously, but she will also identify and establish new opportunities to collaborate with these organizations and others in the podcasting space.  By fostering these partnerships, we aim to create joint initiatives that benefit our members and the wider community. This will include co-hosted events, collaborative projects, and shared resources that enhance the value of membership and support community development.

Feedback. The Community Engagement Coordinator will serve as a key point of contact for our members. You will start to see her more and more in Slack and email as she actively seeks feedback to ensure that TPA programming continues to hold value to members.  We hope this will help us stay attuned to the needs and preferences of our diverse membership base.

Driving Membership Growth. By working in partnership with TPA’s Marketing Committee, the Community Engagement Coordinator will not only enhance our current member programs and partnerships but will also play a crucial role in driving membership growth. By curating diverse topics and high-quality speakers we will ensure our events remain relevant and valuable.  Partnering with local organizations, businesses, and educational institutions creates a broader network of opportunities. These collaborations can offer joint memberships or special discounts, making membership in TPA even more attractive. Developing exclusive programs and offers for members provides a strong incentive for potential members to join, while enhanced networking opportunities attract individuals seeking to expand their professional circles.

The Community Engagement Coordinator’s efforts in enhancing member programs, building partnerships, and engaging members directly translate to increased membership satisfaction and growth. We are confident that the strategic initiatives led by the Community Engagement Coordinator will significantly contribute to our membership growth and help us build a thriving, dynamic community, and we look forward to you getting to know her.
